Game Report - September 5, 2010 Thunderbolts @ Cruisers
Season finale ends with extra-inning loss to Thunderbolts, 7-2
The
Oakland County Cruisers took on the Windy City Thunderbolts on Sunday
afternoon in its final game of the season and were defeated 7-2 in 12 innings.
The
Thunderbolts struck first with two runs in the second inning as RF
Tim Jobe was putout scoring SS Mike Torres and then C Mitch Saum hit
a sacrifice fly scoring 2B Jim Calderone.
Thunderbolts
starter Brent Solich pitched and retired the first 13 batters of the
game before 3B Kyle Maunus hit a single for the first Cruisers hit of
the game. The Cruisers would then load the bases but SS Luis
Fernandez would hit into an inning ending double play.
Solich
pitched eight innings allowing two runs on seven hits.
Cruisers
catcher Ben Barrone would hit a lead off solo home run in the sixth
inning to cut the Thunderbolts lead to 2-1.
Cruisers
starter Kevin Asselin pitched six innings allowing two runs on six
hits with three strikeouts he was replaced by reliever Brad Reid.
Thunderbolts
closer Brandon Garner would pitch the ninth inning and LF Jeremy Jones would
hit a solo home run with two outs to tie up the game at two and force extra innings.
Cruisers reliever
Adam Dominick (3-7) would come in to pitch the twelfth inning for the
Cruisers and the Thunderbolts would load the bases and Brandon
Anderson would hit a RBI triple to bring in three runs as the
Thunderbolts took a 5-2 lead.
Thunderbolts reliever
Richard Barrett (8-3) would come in for the Thunderbolts in the eleventh inning and hold the Cruisers at bay to pick up the win.
The Oakland County Cruisers finished the 2010 season with a 53-43 record, an 11-game improvement over last season's win total.
