CRUISERS STRAND NINE WHILE BEACH BUMS MAKE THEIR HITS
COUNT IN 8-1 WIN
OVER OAKLAND
COUNTY
Still struggling to score runs, the Oakland County
Cruisers outhit the Traverse City Beach Bums 10 to 7 last night but left nine
runners on the base paths. Meanwhile, Traverse City scored
three runs on just four hits thru the first seven innings to lead 3-1 and then
busted the game open in the 8th by putting up a 5-spot as the Bums
won going away 8-1.
Andres Esquibel (5-3) was the losing pitcher and,
uncharacteristically, allowed 5 walks.
Two costly errors by the Cruisers made all but two of Traverse City’s runs unearned. The Beach Bums’ eighth frame was highlighted
by a 2-run homer from third baseman Jonathan Alia.
The clubs square off again this evening with Oakland County’s
Wayde Kitchens (4-2) facing Traverse
City’s Enrique Lechuga (5-3).
The Cruisers return home over the weekend to face the
Washington Wild Things at Ford Field (Farmington
Road just south of 5 Mile) in the City of Livonia. On Saturday, the teams play a twi-night
double header starting at 4:00 pm.
Sunday is a single game beginning at 2:00 pm. Admission is free with the purchase of a
$2.00 souvenir Cruisers scorecard program.
